This past week marked the start of one of my favorite times of the year - dineLA Restaurant Week! For those of you unfamiliar with this event, dineLA is a two-week dining phenomenon created to introduce foodies and friends to the vast array of restaurants throughout the LA County. Local foodies and visitors to LA have the opportunity to enjoy an awesome selection of specially priced prix fixe menus from some of LA's best restaurants. Aka...this is your chance to finally try that expen$ive restaurant you've been eyeing, but can't manage to empty your wallet for. Yelpers (like myself) rejoice as they can finally drag their friends out with them to taste the sweet and savory delicacies that they so often have to enjoy alone. This week, I had a good friend from college visiting from Hawaii so it was the perfect excuse to take advantage of dineLA. I've had Vinoteque On Melrose bookmarked on my Yelp account for quite some time and this year it was on the dineLA restaurant list! For those of you who have been contemplating trying it out, do yourself a favor and GO. Everything from the classy & not overly trendy atmosphere, to the superb service, to the pure deliciousness of the food...just beyond. And they have homemade churros. Need I say more? However trite this may sound, the best part of the night, though, was just spending time with these kids. Nothing beats the feeling of a good, hearty laugh with old friends...not even homemade churros.

1. This wraparound wooden wine rack wall was one of the many charming touches in the restaurant. 2. The dineLA prix fixe menu allowed for a wine flight sampler for an extra $15. We got to choose the three wines of our liking, so I opted for a sweet Riesling, a crisp Rosé, and a fruity Pinot. 3. Tea lights adorned each table. 4. My darling Hawaiian friend MJ. 5. Tony cheesin' for the camera. 6. For the salad, we all chose the Charred Romaine Salad with pancetta and breadcrumbs. Divine. 7. Tony's first course was the Warm Goat Cheese Napoleon. The play on sweet and savory with the creamy goat cheese and dribbles of honey was surprising and delicious. 8. MJ and I opted for the Four Cheese Tortellini for our first course. It was super creamy and cheesy and yummy. 9. Tony's third course was the Hanger Steak Torta Frita. 10. Our main course was the Pork Belly Au Jus. Succulent, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly and german style potato mash. 10. Churros to die for. 11. Wine corks adorned the outdoor menu. 12. Tony and MJ. 13. Tony and I...and a guest appearance from my wonky right eye.
